Two inspiring sisters making amazing beach life apparel. A must visit shop in Deerfield Beach.

Deerfield Beach may look like a quaint beach town on the surface but if you look closely, you can see the many hidden gems inside… one of those gems is MORA.   This apparel shop in The Cove shopping center has something awesome for every girl.  The merchandise is a great combination of the custom line and cool things from abroad.  Each piece of the custom line is a handmade, authentic piece of clothing.  You can feel the care and style behind everything.  The moment you walk into MORA, you know there is something really special going on.  The store and apparel reflects a great balance of surf culture, beauty, local interests and your owner’s personalities.

Romina Tavola and Claudia Moline, were born in Argentina in a small coastal town.  In their hometown Mar Del Plata, meaning “Silver Sea,” surfing is a way of life.  Since the two sisters were very young they spent days lingering on the beach.  Romi describes the delightful pair perfectly, “We are all about free spirit, living well and making time to enjoy the simple things in life.  MORA is our passion and we are pursuing it, making clothes that make people feel comfortable in and in touch with their inner self.  Mora means “wild berry” and that inspire the freedom of our creations.”

Everything in MORA has great style and balance for our active Florida lives.   It’s so refreshing to walk into a local store and find apparel and jewelry that makes us feel beautiful, adorable clothes for kids and even great stuff to decorate our home.  There are stylish items that fit all the different roles we assume day to day.  This balance is a reflection of the sisters and how they complement each other in each aspect of the business.  The treasures you find here are reprieve from the generic.  You will find unique jewelry, accessories and clothes from international places, of course, including Argentina.  They visit Argentina as often as they can.  “Even though our family is all here we still like to go back to our roots, drink wine, eat great food and spend quality time with friends and family,” says Romi and Claudia.

When asked what other things inspire the sisters, they happily respond, “We love to travel and in every trip we like to visit beaches and surf spots…you always see beautiful and unique stuff that gets you inspired.  Different colors and textures also inspire us.  We like to follow trends our own way. What we love most about MORA is the way people feel when they wear our creations.  It makes them feel comfortable, beautiful and different.”  The sisters have truly succeeded in that, girls and women can look and feel great in the apparel they create.

If you remember buying MORA bikinis at Lazydaze, you have seen this hometown company from it’s roots.  Since then, they have grown to carry merchandise in their own foundation store in The Cove as well as in surf shops from Pompano Beach all the way up to New York.  When asked about the expansion process they modestly reply, “Since Lazy Days to now, what can we say… we always follow our dream, we work hard, knock on lots of doors, meet great people that believe in us and were always trying to help.  We will always be thankful to all the surf shops that help us grow and accept MORA as part of their shops.”

Like all ventures there have been challenges.  Their biggest challenge was to get people to believe in their products and put it next to the big brand names.  They strive, and continue to thrive in creating a great quality, fairly priced and unique product.  So we have to ask what’s next… “The next thing for MORA is unknown, lots of ideas and not enough time.  We will be working on a new website.  We sponsor Surfer’s for Autism and look forward to joining more organizations that help the Earth, our oceans and wildlife,” says Romi.

Like life, walking into MORA is always a new and exciting experience.  We don’t know what we will find, or for that matter, what will find us but we do know that whatever happens it will be exciting and full of the genuine beach life spirit.
